AMD to Nvidia: Prove it!

AMD has decided it doesn’t like the claims Nvidia is making about its latest video card, the GTX 590. AMD launched the Radeon HD 6990 and said it was the fastest card on the market scoring the highest ever score using the 3DMark 11 benchmark. Nvidia is now claiming the fastest card title, but has not released any test scores to back that claim up … and AMD isn’t happy!

AMD wants some proof and has challenged Nvidia to provide some benchmark statistics to back up their claim. AMD even went to far as to lay down the challenge on their own blog.

Is this the most powerful video card available today?

AMD must be pretty confident that their Radeon HD 6990 video card will beat the GTX 590 in a head-to-head. Someone is going to come out of this as the loser, and judging by reviews already published, our money is on AMD right now.  They have reviews fromHot HardwareTechGageLegit Reviews, and Hexus all suggesting the 6990 comes out on top or at least equal with extra features pushing it above Nvidia.

When you also consider that the Radeon HD 6990 is actually cheaper than Nvidia’s top-of-the-range video card, it is hard to side with Nvidia on this one. Having said that, the GTX 590 is slimmer and quieter than AMD’s dual-GPU card and has more over-clocking potential.
